TRUSTEE CANDIDATES

Nathan C. Rohrmeier

Rohrmeier was born and raised in Bellport Village, graduating from Bellport High School, where he lettered in football and lacrosse. After graduating, he attended Clemson University, where he majored in finance and minored in real estate. He then traveled the world before settling down and raising his children in the village.

“From our picturesque beaches, marina, and country club to our robust downtown area to nights spent listening to live music down at the bandshell, Bellport Village has a plethora of wonderful offerings for all residents to enjoy,” he said.

As a trustee, he said he is dedicated to preserving the village’s historic beauty, culture, and environment while also being guided by a commitment to financially sound decision making.

He has 20-plus years of professional experience in various aspects of financial services, which he said has developed his extensive knowledge of mortgages, municipal bonds, and an array of fixed-income products.

“As trustee, I bring valuable insights to the board when balancing the budget, evaluating grant opportunities, and obtaining financing for capital projects,” he added. “I know how important it is to be transparent with the public, and as trustee I [will] make open communication a primary tenet of my work.”

As a member of the community, he has also been active in several community organizations, such as the Bellport Village Program Fund, the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Bellport Area, and the South Country Education Foundation.

In running for trustee, he said his only agenda is to keep Bellport the “Pearl of the Bay.”

Steven Mackin

Steven Mackin was elected to his first term in 2016. As a Bellport resident for over 40 years and member of the Bellport Fire Department, he originally ran for trustee on the platform to offer a better handle on ever-increasing taxes and a younger perspective of today’s challenges.

Mackin is in emergency equipment sales and lives on Bieselin Road with his wife, Dina, and three children, Hana, Ryan and Emma, who all attend South Country School District. Both Ryan and Hana have become volunteers in fire and EMS. Growing up in Bellport, Mackin said he participated in baseball and Cub Scouts, then grew up to serve as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and in 2022 was elected as fire district commissioner.

“I am honored and privileged to continue working for the residents of the Village of Bellport,” he said of his re-election. “I want to thank everyone for their continued support over the years. I look forward to the next two years.”
