Fire elections are Dec. 10

Several area fire departments are holding elections on Dec. 10. Below are the candidates and proposition information:

Bellport

Richard Omelchuk will be running for the only commissioner’s seat open. Election is from 6 to 9 p.m. There is no proposition.

Blue Point 

Incumbent Dennis McCarthy will be running for a five-year term. There are no propositions. The election is from 6 to 9 p.m. in Brookhaven

Eugene Petricevich is running against Patrick Perry (neither are incumbents) for a five-year term. There is no proposition. Election is from 6 to 9 p.m.

Hagerman

Hagerman’s vote will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. There is one five-year commissioner seat from Jan. 1, 2025, to Dec. 31, 2029, available, with only one petition: Martin Fassman, whose name will appear on the ballot.

There will also be a proposition to increase the Hagerman Fire District Service award from 40 years to 50 years and the amount of earned credit per year from $ 20 to $30 per year effective Jan. 1, 2025.

Mastic

Rudy Sunderman Sr. (incumbent) is running unopposed for a five-year term. There is no proposition. Election is from 5 to 9 p.m.

Mastic Beach

Bill Biondi (incumbent) is running unopposed for a five-year term. Election is from 6 to 9 p.m. There is no proposition.

Medford

Craig G. Codwell (incumbent) is running unopposed for a five-year term. Election is from 3 to 9 p.m. There is no proposition.

Patchogue

Dennis Logan will be running unopposed for a five-year term seat and Jill Ferrante will be running for treasurer for a three-year term unopposed. Election is from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be one proposition for the purchase of a new fire engine.
The following Proposition will be submitted to the qualified voters for their approval or disapproval:

“Shall the bond resolution of the Patchogue Fire District, a joint fire district, in the Village of Patchogue and Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York, entitled: Bond resolution of the Patchogue fire district, a joint fire district, in the village of Patchogue and town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York, adopted October 16, 2024, authorizing the issuance of bonds in a principal amount not to exceed $1,800,000 to finance the acquisition of a fire truck, including apparatus and equipment used in connection therewith, for use by the fire district; stating the estimated maximum cost thereof is $1,800,000;appropriating said amount for such purpose; and providing for the levy and collection of taxes to pay the principal of said bonds and the interest thereon as the same become due and payable,”  be approved?”
